Cost & Savings
Most SEG customers save $3,200+ per year on electricity bills. With feed-in tariffs now as low as 3-5c/kWh, the savings come from using your own solar power stored in the battery at night instead of selling it cheap and buying it back at 28-35c/kWh. Your daily supply charge stays — solar and battery alone cannot remove that.
Most SEG customers achieve payback in approximately 4.5 years. That factors in combined solar and battery rebates worth $10,000+, current electricity rates averaging 28-35c/kWh, and the shift to self-consumption through battery storage.
Yes. SEG offers $0 upfront through Brighte finance — either a 10-year Green Loan or a 0% interest option over 5 years. You start saving on your electricity bills from day one while paying off the system.
A properly designed residential solar and battery system typically ranges from $15,000-$35,000 depending on system size and battery capacity. Combined solar and battery rebates can reduce your upfront cost by $10,000+. SEG provides exact pricing through the energy audit based on your actual usage.
The federal STC (Small-scale Technology Certificate) rebate applies to both solar and battery systems in 2026, with combined rebates worth $10,000+ depending on system size. SEG handles all the rebate paperwork and applies the discount upfront — you don't wait for reimbursement.
Yes, but only with battery storage. Feed-in tariffs have dropped to 3-5c/kWh while you buy electricity at 28-35c/kWh. It's not about how much you make exporting — it's how much you keep. SEG's GoodWe ESA battery systems store your solar power so you use it at night instead of selling it cheap during the day.
Both matter, but in 2026 battery capacity is where the value sits. SEG typically installs 13-20kW of solar with 24-33kWh of battery storage. Larger solar arrays mean the battery fills even on overcast days, and a properly sized battery covers your evening and overnight usage.
Battery & Technology
The GoodWe ESA batteries SEG installs come with a 10-year warranty and are designed to last 15+ years. They maintain 80% capacity after 6,000 cycles — roughly 16 years of daily use.
Yes. The GoodWe ESA system provides full home backup during blackouts — not just a few circuits. Your entire home stays powered. The system switches to battery power within milliseconds of detecting an outage.
SEG typically installs 24-33kWh of battery storage using GoodWe ESA modules (approximately 8.32kWh per module, stacked to match your usage). Your energy audit determines the right number of modules — we add them until the next one stops making a meaningful difference to your bill.
The GoodWe ESA uses LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) chemistry, which is inherently safer than other lithium battery types. LiFePO4 cells are thermally stable and do not undergo thermal runaway. The GoodWe ESA also includes a built-in fire suppression system as an additional safety layer, making it one of the safest battery systems available for home installation.
The GoodWe ESA (Energy Storage All-in-one) combines a hybrid solar inverter and battery storage in a single outdoor-rated unit. It's weatherproof, compact, and includes built-in safety systems. The integrated design reduces installation complexity and potential failure points compared to separate inverter and battery components.
Installation
Yes, someone over 18 needs to be home for safety and access. SEG's installations typically take one full day with our dedicated crew. We walk you through the system and answer your questions once installation is complete.
SEG completes most residential installations in one day. Our “one crew, one job, one day” standard means your install crew is not rushing between multiple jobs. Complex installations or challenging roof access may require additional time.
Not when done properly. SEG's SAA-accredited installers use appropriate mounting systems for your roof type and seal all penetrations. All our installers are in-house employees with full accreditation.
Most roof types work — metal, Colorbond, and standard tile. SEG's energy audit includes a full roof assessment. We do not install on terracotta or decromastic roofs due to breakage risk, and asbestos roofs need remediation first.
System design, installation by SAA-accredited in-house installers, electrical connection, full system commissioning, and a customer walkthrough. We handle all paperwork including rebate applications and grid connection approvals with your electricity retailer.
Company & Trust
Source Energy Group (ABN 66 692 934 035) is a QLD and NSW residential solar and battery installer with full SAA accreditation and electrical contractor licences in both states. We maintain 5.0 stars from 36 verified Google reviews. All our installers are in-house employees, and we commit to still answering your calls at year 25.
All equipment comes with manufacturer warranties that remain valid regardless of the installer. Your GoodWe inverter and battery have 10-year manufacturer warranties, and solar panels carry 25-year performance warranties that transfer with the home.
Your GoodWe ESA system includes a 10-year manufacturer warranty on inverter and battery components. Solar panels carry 25-year performance warranties. SEG provides a workmanship warranty on installation and ongoing support as part of our 25-year partnership model.
All our installers are in-house employees. We install one system per crew per day — no rushing. We use the GoodWe ESA integrated system exclusively, and we design every system from your actual bills and usage, not a cookie-cutter 6.6kW template.
Feed-in Tariffs & Grid
Rising electricity rates (up 20-25% in recent years) can offset solar savings, especially without battery storage. Without a battery, you're still buying expensive evening power at 28-35c/kWh while your daytime solar exports at just 3-5c/kWh. Battery storage closes that gap.
Feed-in tariffs in 2026 range from 3-8c/kWh across QLD and NSW retailers, while you buy electricity at 28-35c/kWh. That gap is exactly why SEG recommends battery storage — store your own power instead of selling it cheap to the grid.
In most suburban areas across QLD and NSW, local councils require a grid connection as a condition of occupancy — so fully disconnecting is not an option for the majority of homes. The practical approach is a hybrid system: keep your grid connection to satisfy council requirements, but install enough solar and battery to run your home almost entirely off your own power. SEG's GoodWe ESA systems are designed for exactly this — full home backup, near-zero grid usage, and the safety net of a grid connection when you need it.
Yes. Most QLD and NSW network areas have export limits ranging from 5kW to 10kW. SEG's system design ensures compliance with your area's limits while maximising self-consumption through battery storage — which is where the real value is anyway.
System Design
SEG typically installs 13-20kW of solar panels for residential systems. We size from your actual electricity bills and usage, not from roof space alone. Larger arrays ensure your battery fills even on overcast days, which matters more than maximising export.
Yes, shade significantly reduces output. SEG's site assessment identifies shading issues and designs around them. The GoodWe ESA system includes advanced maximum power point tracking to minimise shade impact. We default a 5% shade loss in our modelling unless a specific assessment shows otherwise.
SEG's energy audit reviews your electricity bills, daily usage (kWh), day vs night consumption split, roof orientation, and any planned future loads like EV chargers or air conditioning. We design from your actual numbers using our Savings & Pricing Matrix — not a one-size-fits-all template.
Solar panels need minimal maintenance — occasional cleaning and annual visual inspection. The GoodWe ESA battery system is maintenance-free with automated monitoring. SEG provides ongoing support and monitoring as part of the 25-year partnership.
Yes, but at reduced capacity — typically 10-25% of peak output. This is exactly why SEG sizes solar arrays at 13-20kW rather than a basic 6.6kW. Larger arrays generate meaningful power even on overcast days, keeping the battery topped up.
